About Me

I am a dedicated bioinformatician with 10+ years of experience with cell biology and chemistry. With a strong background in both biology and computer science, I specialize in designing, implementing, and evaluating methods to analyze the relationships between genetic variations, disease manifestation, and drug response.

My research focuses on developing innovative approaches to integrate multi-omics data for a comprehensive understanding of biological systems. I am passionate about leveraging computational tools to advance our understanding of human health and disease.

Research Associate

Pamona CollegeJul 2017 - Aug 2017

Awarded a Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) grant to complete and present a lab research project involving plant immunology. Used a large RNA-seq data set from previous literature to identify genes upregulated by bacterial infection in Nicotiana Benthamiana. The selected genes were isolated and captured in vectors to be amplified and transformed into agrobacterium. Model plants were inoculated with said agrobacterium and samples were taken on a specific time scale. Bacterial growth from the plant samples was observed and recorded

Research Assistant

Pamona CollegeJun 2016 - Jul 2016

Assisted a current undergraduate Research Program (UGRP) grant to complete and present a lab research project involving gene annotation. Used a local RNA-seq data set from previous literature to identify gene annotations by bacterial infections in multiple host tissues. The method gives more context and specificity to publicly available RNA-seq data. Developed a pipeline to analyze gene expression data from multiple species, with an emphasis on host-pathogen interactions.

STEM Ambassador & Conference Organizer

Georgetown Day SchoolApr 2014 - Jun 2015

Planned and organized the school's STEM conference, a public-private partnership that brings students and researchers together. Coordinated panels, and created student logistics to improve STEM education. Co-founding the Synergistic STEM Alliance, an outreach program for high school students in the DC area, I conducted research to understand the reasons behind the lack of racial diversity in STEM fields. As part of this initiative, I collaborated with multiple NGOs, businesses such as NeuStar and Microsoft, and the US Department of Education to identify and connect mentors with students interested in pursuing careers in STEM.
